FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASEDate: August 19, 2008 To: News Directors, Assignment Editor From: Michelle Mazzei, Communications Director, the National Exchange Club, 800/924-2643, mmazzei@nationalexchangeclub.org, Web site: www.nationalexchangeclub.org Defiance Resident Elected National Exchange Club PresidentFloyd Culver, a member of the Exchange Clubs of Defiance and Wauseon, Ohio, was installed as national president of the National Exchange Club at the organization’s 2008 national convention in St. Louis, Missouri. He was elected national president-elect at the 2007 national convention in Portland, Oregon. Previously, he served as president of the Defiance Area Chamber of Commerce from 1999-2006, and president of the Ashtabula Area Chamber of Commerce from 1989-1999. Prior to that Culver was director of student services at Kent State University for more than 20 years. Culver has been a member of Exchange since 1974. A former member of the Exchange Club of Ashtabula, Ohio, he served as its president-elect and president. In addition, he served on the club’s board of directors and chaired numerous committees. He was also a member of the Exchange Club of Wauseon, Ohio, before he helped build the Exchange Club of Defiance, of which he is a charter member. On the district level, Culver served on the board of directors and as president-elect and president. He has also served as chairman of various district committees. For the National Exchange Club, Culver served as a volunteer field representative. He also served as chairman of the personal development committee for the 2000-2001 year. Previously, he chaired the national public relations/marketing committee and served as a member of the leadership development committee. Active in his community, he has served as a board member for Goodwill Industries, Regional School to Work, Junior Achievement, the Maumee Valley Historical Corridor and the Ohio Regional Business Alliance. He has also served as president of the Kent State University Regional Business Alliance.
Culver earned a bachelor of
science degree from Ohio State University, a master of education degree in
administration from Bowling Green State University, and is a graduate of the
Institute of Organizational and Management at the University of Notre Dame. He
and his wife, Ann, have three children. The Culvers reside in Defiance. # # # |
