He recently retired as a senior account representative from Blue Cross Blue Shield Blue Care Network of Michigan, where he has earned several sales awards. Harrant joined Exchange in 1987. Active at the club level, he has served on his club’s board of directors, and as bulletin editor, secretary, president-elect and president. He has chaired numerous fundraisers for his club and was named Exchangite of the Year twice. For the Michigan District Exchange Clubs, Harrant served several years as district director, was elected district vice president and president-elect, and went on to serve as Michigan District president in 2000-2001. He was also named district Exchangite of the Year in 1993. For the National Exchange Club, Harrant serves on the Diversity and Public Relations/Communications Committees. Previously, he chaired the Technology Committee and served on the Growth Committee. He is also a volunteer field representative. Very active in his community, Harrant is a longtime member of the Midland Area Chamber of Commerce and is a Chamber Ambassador. He was selected as Ambassador of the Year in 1998. In 2004, he served as chairman for the Midland Ambassadors, as well as chairman of the Statewide Ambassador Conference. He is also active in the United Way of Midland County, having served as a cabinet member and division chair. For the Alma Jaycees, Harrant was a Blue Chip Chapter President, a district director and a regional director and was the recipient of several Jaycee awards. He served as president of the American Cancer Society board. Harrant is a member of the Moose, the Eagles and the American Legion, and is an active member in his church. Harrant attended Delta College and Michigan State University. He and his wife, Anita, are the parents of two grown sons and grandparents of five children. # # # |
